Awards
The ACRM annually honors individuals who make significant contributions to the field of rehabilitation medicine and research. These six prestigious awards are presented at the Henry B. Betts Awards Gala during the annual conference. Please contact Judy Reuter to submit a nomination to the Awards Committee or write to: ACRM Awards Committee, 1139 New Harmony Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46231.
The nominations deadline for all awards is June 30, 2012.
Unless otherwise specified in the award description, nominations must include the following:
- Name of nominee
- Nominee contact information, including email
- NIH biosketch or CV for nominee
- Statement of qualifications describing why the positions and activities outlined in the biosketch or CV qualify the nominee for a particular honor
- Your name and contact information, including email

John Stanley Coulter Lecturer Award This distinguished lectureship honors John Stanley Coulter, MD, a past president of ACRM, treasurer and editor of the
Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Award winners are recognized for achievements which significantly advance the field of rehabilitation.

Elizabeth and Sidney Licht Award This award recognizes excellence in scientific writing in rehabilitation medicine, by honoring the author of a selected paper published in the
Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Nominees for this award are selected by the
Archives editor-in-chief. Sidney Licht was an ACRM past president and editor of the Physical Medicine Library, which was published by his wife, Elizabeth.

Edward Lowman Award This award was established in 1989 in honor of Edward Lowman, MD who recognized the importance of multidisciplinary teams in rehabilitation. ACRM members whose careers reflect an energetic promotion of the spirit of interdisciplinary rehabilitation are eligible for this award.

Distinguished Member Award Established in 1988, this award honors ACRM members who have significantly contributed to the development and functioning of ACRM, demonstrating leadership skills, organizational abilities, and public service.

Gold Key Award This award was established in 1932 as a certificate of merit for members of the medical and allied professions who have rendered extraordinary service to the cause of rehabilitation. It is the highest honor given by ACRM.

Deborah L. Wilkerson Early Career Award in Rehabilitation Research ACRM established the Deborah L. Wilkerson Memorial Fund in honor of this beloved member, former President (2003), and ACRM Fellow (2005). Deborah was devoted to improving the quality of rehabilitation and independent living services and was an advocate for individuals with disabilities.
The Deborah L. Wilkerson Early Career Award is made possible by the generosity of Deborah's friends, family and colleagues who support the memorial fund. It is awarded each year during the ACRM-ASNR annual conference.

Criteria
- Candidate must be within 10 years of completion of training.
- Candidate's early career work must demonstrate significant contributions to rehabilitation research.
- Candidate is not required to work within a Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, but must be conducting rehabilitation research.
- Candidate must be a current member of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
- Candidate must attend the current year's ACRM-ASNR annual conference.
Application Process
- Submit nomination. Candidates may self-nominate.
- Submit an application statement of approximately 500 words outlining candidate's research accomplishments in rehabilitation.
- Demonstrate service to ACRM. Although not a required criterion, service will be considered in review of the application. As such, it is advantageous to discuss any such service in the application statement.
- Submit three letters of support written by ACRM members.
- Submit three to five peer-reviewed publications. Manuscripts accepted, but not yet published are acceptable as well as those already in print. The candidate need not be the senior author on all papers submitted, but must be the senior author on at least one.
- Submit a CV.
