Requirements:

  • Education - Doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, or similar field required.
  • Experience - Statistical and methodological experience in clinical research. Experience in rehabilitation and disability research highly preferred.

Skills:

  1. Highly proficient in advanced statistical methods.
  2. Highly proficient in classical and modern psychometric techniques, including item response theory.
  3. Excellent knowledge of statistical software programs.
  4. Project management to complete studies on time and within budget according to a written plan of work.

Rehabilitation Research Training Fellowship

The University of Michigan, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is accepting applications for two two-year Postdoctoral Fellowships sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) in rehabilitation research to begin in the Fall of 2009. Fellows will be able to select from a curriculum that provides research training in community participation, including social and environmental factors effecting independent living; health and function; and Assistive technologies among adults and pediatric populations being served by the University of Michigan Health Systems. They will participate in current research projects, attend lectures and classes, develop their own research applications during the second year and complete a short rotation at the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, a community based agency serving persons with disabilities. They will acquire specific research skills, including statistical skills, working with other scientists in their laboratories with basic science and clinical applied projects. Applicants will have tuition and travel stipends to present at national conferences or visit with mentors at other sites.

Applicants should have completed their requirements for a PhD degree and be a US citizen or Permanent Resident and preference is given to those trained in an APA accredited doctoral program. Director of Rehabilitation Research

The Rehabilitation Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) is recruiting a Director of Rehabilitation Research, available mid June 2009.

Job requirements include a doctorate degree or its equivalent in experience, coordination and management skills. This position entails being co-project director or co-investigator on several current grants:

  1. Northern California TBI Model System of Care US Dept of Education, NIDRR funded 2007-12; continuously funded since 1987
  2. A New Measure of Subjective Fatigue, NIDRR field initiated grant 2008-11
  3. Evaluating Dysphagia in Individuals with SCI, NIDRR field initiated grant 2008-11
  4. Northern California SCI Model System of Care follow-up center and Participation in Depression in SCI
  5. “Back on Track” A Community-Based Mentoring Program, US Dept of Education,  Rehabilitation Services Administration 2005-09

Our goal is to continue to build our research agenda so that we can continue to compete for rehabilitation research funding.  We are also vying as a site for translational research for stem cell initiatives and other projects in collaboration with Stanford University and the Palo Alto VA. The rehabilitation research staff has been stable for the last decade and has a high level of teamwork.  

SCVMC is located in San Jose, California, less than 50 miles south of San Francisco. It is a 574 bed not-for-profit teaching hospital with a Level I trauma designation. We are a 70 bed hospital-based rehab center composed of a 32 bed SCI unit and a 38 bed TBI/general rehab unit, both of which receive regional and national referrals. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department also directs an 8 bed Rehab Trauma Center (RTC) where we admit recently injured SCI or brain injured patients directly under our care, in collaboration with our medical and surgical colleagues. The program specializes in the care of patients with high respiratory care needs as well as rehabilitation needs. We are building a patient care tower that will include new rehabilitation facilities over the next 5 years.

Research Neuropsychologist or
Research Scientist in Rehabilitation Network

Casa ColinaSeeking full-time, doctoral-level research scientist to serve as primary investigator in developing and conducting cross-disciplinary, rehabilitation outcomes and effectiveness research studies. Research projects to be conducted using data available from departments across our medical rehabilitation continuum: Inpatient & Outpatient Neuropsychology, Physical/Occupational/Speech-Language Therapies, and medical specialties (Physiatry, Neurology, etc.). Program-specific research to be conducted as well, e.g., in our hospital, post-acute (transitional living), pediatric and long-term residential programs for adults with acquired brain injuries. Researcher must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with department and program directors to develop projects evaluating the effectiveness of treatment services. Must have thorough training in advanced research design methods and statistics, as well as an established record of publications and conference presentations. Prior experience in obtaining research funding a plus. Support in obtaining funding from philanthropic organizations, as well as from the state and federal levels, is available through existing staff in our campus’ Research Institute.

Position:  The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Missouri – Columbia, has a faculty position opening for a musculoskeletal/sports medicine physiatrist at the assistant/associate professor level. Position is on the clinical track (non-tenure). Faculty member will have a joint appointment with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Responsibilities:  Primary services will be outpatient musculoskeletal/sports medicine, including EMG services. Responsibilities also include rotating call coverage at Rusk Rehabilitation Center as well as teaching duties. Prefer skills with trigger point, soft tissue, and joint injections. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Completed a residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, board certified or board eligible in PM&R, and licensed or license-eligible in the state of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications:  Musculoskeletal fellowship or equivalent experience.
