BI-ISIG Task Forces


The key work of the BI-ISIG is accomplished within its various task forces, which develop cutting-edge research and standards of care in brain injury.
 

Cognitive Rehabilitation
Co-chairs: Keith Cicerone, PhD, ABPP
Donna Langenbahn, PhD 
The mission of this task force is to analyze evidence-based research in cognitive rehabilitation and further refine clinical practice guidelines.
 
              Long-term Issues
Co-chairs:

This task force conducts reviews and original research on medical aspects of aging with brain injury.

Community-Based Treatment
Co-chairs: Ann Marie McLaughlin, PhD
Nina Geier, MS, MPT 
This task force disseminates research findings and information on community-based treatment.
 

Mild TBI
Co-chairs: Andrea Laborde, MD
Murdo Dowds, PhD 
The mission of this task force is to articulate updated definition of mild TBI as basis for further clinical and research exploration.

Disorders of Consciousness
Co-chairs: John Whyte
Risa Nakase-Richardson 
The mission of this task force is conducting evidence-based review of behavioral assessment tools for impaired consciousness.
 
 

Pediatric/Adolescent
Co-chairs:
 Julie Haarbauer-Krupa, PhD
Joe Marcantuono, PhD
This task force conducts systematic study
 of research following acquired brain injury occurring during adolescence.

Prognosis after TBI
Co-chairs:
 Rosette Biester, PhD
David Krych, MS, CCC-SLP
The mission of this task force is to ascertain, evaluate and make recommendations on prognostic information given to brain injury survivors and caregivers.



Girls & Women with TBI
Angela Colantonio, PhD, FACRM

This task force conducts collaborative research and knowledge mobilization on girls and women with traumatic brain injury.
